About Us
Vision
Impacting families living in poverty starting with kids and youth.
History
Dream Center Peoria, or DCP, started as the brainchild of John King, Senior Pastor of Riverside Community Church, after he visited the original Dream Center in Los Angeles, CA. He saw the impact of the ministries of the Dream Center and felt the urging of God to start a Dream Center here in Peoria. The idea spread like wildfire. Individuals and families who saw the need were empowered with the tools to affect their community and to see a greater purpose in their own lives. Since then, dreams have grown and the need for more resources have helped to turn those dreams into reality.
In 2005, Dream Center Peoria acquired the old YMCA Building. The seven-story structure serves as a place to find resources, such as the HOPE Store (free clothing and small household store), History Makers (after school program and summer program), athletic programs, as well as a visual reminder of need and struggle to downtown Peoria. During 2011, DCP will be openning a fine arts program, Freedom Arts Project, and Peoria's first hip-hop church, The Basement.
