AOK: Acts Of Kindness

Imagine “The Church” working together in the Peoria area to improve and impact the physical, social and spiritual atmosphere. That’s the idea behind AOK and AOK Friday.

AOK Events: A United Church In Action

Every other month, we will set aside a day for “The Church” to work together in many parts of the city and surrounding areas to make a difference.

AOK Zones

  • Taft Homes
  • Morton Square Park
  • River West Area
  • Sheridan/ McClure
  • McClure/ Glen Oak
  • Peoria Heights
  • Prairie Farms Area
  • Landmark/ City Scape
  • Harrison Homes Area
  • Averyville Area

Get your church involved

The aim is to get 10 core AOK churches assigned to an AOK zone. As new churches join AOK, we will partner them with a core AOK church. Each church will work with DCP to prepare the event for their zone. Each AOK core church will assign a leader/coordinator to sit on an advisory team which will be lead by DCP. To get involved, email Amy Herring at Dream Center Peoria.

AOK Events

All AOK events will be duplicated at each zone site to present a united front. Churches are asked to help with the financial element. We estimate each zone costing around $1000 for the year. This does not include Operation Angel Food groceries, backpacks or Convoy of Hope. Dream Center Peoria will oversee the obtaining of supplies, marketing, flyers, banners and food for the event. There may be instances where churches are asked to help with equipment (ie sound, tables, coolers, etc.)

AOK Friday

Make someone else's day! Do the simple things: make someone smile, sincerely care for others, follow Jesus’ example and make a difference, no matter how small. Visit the AOK Friday blog.

Our Aim is to create a mindset with individuals in churches, schools, youth groups, colleges, businesses, organizations and the community that Friday is the day to do an Act of Kindness to someone they may or may not know. Each week we post ideas for Friday Acts of Kindness. We also ask that churches, schools, media, businesses and organizations spread the idea of Acts of Kindness on Fridays. Talk about it, write about it, just do it and start to change the atmosphere in your world around you.
